Privacy at a Glance
DogDash has been designed to collect only the information needed to provide its core features. Background location is only intended to be collected while an active walk is in progress. Your profile picture may be visible to other users, while walk photographs are shared with your accepted friends by default. DogDash does not sell your personal information, and you can delete your account through the app.
Our Privacy Promise
We believe users should understand what information is collected and why. Rather than relying on complicated legal terminology wherever possible, this Privacy Policy explains how DogDash uses your information in clear language while also meeting our legal obligations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who operates DogDash?
DogDash is operated by Triff Limited, which is responsible for deciding how and why your personal information is processed.
Why do you need my location?
Location information is fundamental to DogDash. It allows the app to record walks, calculate distance and route, award achievements, determine territory ownership and provide the interactive gameplay experience. Without access to location data many of the core features of DogDash would not function.
Does DogDash track me all the time?
No. DogDash is designed so that background location is only used while an active walk is taking place. Once a walk has ended, background location tracking should stop automatically. You remain in control of your device permissions and can revoke location access at any time through your device settings.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use DogDash, we may collect information such as your account details, email address, username, profile photograph, dog profiles, walk routes, GPS locations, timestamps, achievements, territory information, friends, social interactions, walk photographs and technical information about your device. We only request information that is relevant to operating and improving the service.
How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is used to authenticate your account, record and display your walks, calculate gameplay statistics and territory ownership, enable social features, investigate suspected abuse or cheating, improve the reliability and performance of DogDash, communicate important service information and comply with our legal obligations. We do not use your personal information for unrelated purposes without first informing you where required.
Our Legal Basis for Processing
Data protection law requires us to explain why we are permitted to process your information. In most cases we process your information because it is necessary to provide the DogDash service you have requested. In other situations we rely on our legitimate interests, such as protecting the integrity of the platform, preventing fraud and improving the application. Where the law requires your consent, such as for optional permissions or communications, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
Sharing Your Information
DogDash does not sell your personal information. We may share information with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the service, including application hosting providers, mapping providers, notification services and other technology partners. These organisations are only permitted to process information on our behalf for the services they provide and must protect it appropriately. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and our business.
Security
We take the security of your information seriously and implement reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect it from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. These measures include secure authentication, encrypted communications, access controls and ongoing monitoring. Although we work hard to protect your information, no internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security.
International Transfers
Some of the technology providers used by DogDash may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we will take appropriate steps to ensure that your personal information continues to receive a level of protection consistent with applicable data protection laws.
Your Rights
Depending on your location and the laws that apply to you, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, ask us to correct inaccurate information, request deletion of your information, object to or restrict certain processing activities, receive a copy of your information in a portable format where applicable, withdraw consent where consent is relied upon and lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you believe your information has not been handled appropriately.
Children's Privacy
DogDash is intended for individuals aged 13 years or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that such information has been provided without appropriate authority, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.
Third-Party Services
DogDash works with third-party services for the purposes of maintaining a functional, and fun app - including web-hosting. As DogDash develops, additional providers such as analytics, crash reporting, authentication or payment services may be introduced.
Changes to this Policy
As DogDash evolves, this Privacy Policy may also change. When material changes are made we will update the 'Last Updated' date above and, where appropriate, notify users through the application or by other suitable means.
