DogDash is built to make dog walking more engaging, social and rewarding.

These Community Guidelines explain the standards we expect from everyone using DogDash. They apply alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

By using DogDash, you agree to follow these Guidelines and help keep the community safe, fair and enjoyable.

Be respectful

Treat other DogDash users with respect.

Do not use DogDash to:

• bully, threaten or harass another person;

• intimidate or deliberately provoke another user;

• target someone repeatedly;

• discriminate against or abuse someone based on personal characteristics;

• encourage others to harass a user;

• post deliberately offensive or abusive content.

Friendly competition is encouraged. Personal hostility is not.

Keep territory competition friendly

DogDash territory is virtual.

Claiming another user's patches is part of DogDash and should be treated as friendly competition.

Do not:

• confront another person over virtual territory;

• follow someone in the real world to reclaim patches;

• attempt to intimidate someone away from an area;

• interfere with another person's walk;

• treat virtual territory as real-world ownership;

• enter private or restricted land simply to claim or defend a patch.

No DogDash patch is worth putting yourself, your dog or another person at risk.

Respect real-world property and access rules

A patch appearing on the DogDash map does not mean you have permission to enter that location.

Always respect:

• private property;

• gates, fences and barriers;

• access restrictions;

• road and traffic rules;

• local laws;

• signs and notices;

• farmland and livestock;

• protected areas;

• rules relating to dogs.

Do not trespass or enter an unsafe area to claim territory.

Walk safely

Stay aware of your surroundings while using DogDash.

Do not focus on your phone when doing so may be unsafe, particularly:

• near roads;

• at crossings;

• around traffic;

• on difficult terrain;

• near water;

• around livestock or unfamiliar animals.

Stop somewhere safe before interacting with the app where necessary.

Your safety and your dog's welfare always come before DogDash activity.

Put your dog's welfare first

DogDash should never encourage you to overexercise or put your dog at risk.

Consider your dog's:

• age;

• health;

• fitness;

• breed;

• weather tolerance;

• access to water;

• need for rest.

Do not continue a walk simply to protect a streak, earn points or claim territory if doing so would be inappropriate for your dog.

If you are unsure about your dog's exercise needs, seek advice from a qualified veterinary professional.

Play fair

DogDash is designed around genuine walking activity.

Do not cheat or manipulate the system.

Prohibited behaviour includes:

• GPS spoofing;

• falsifying your location;

• recording vehicle journeys as walks;

• using software to simulate movement;

• exploiting bugs to gain territory or progression;

• using multiple accounts to manipulate rankings or territory;

• deliberately interfering with anti-cheat systems;

• creating fake activity;

• knowingly abusing technical weaknesses.

If you discover a bug or exploit, please report it rather than using it for advantage.

We may remove suspicious activity, territory, statistics or leaderboard results where necessary to maintain fair play.

Use honest profiles

Your profile and dog profile should be used genuinely.

Do not:

• impersonate another person;

• pretend to own another person's dog;

• create misleading accounts intended to deceive other users;

• use profile information to harass or mock someone;

• include another person's private information without permission.

Profile names and photographs should be appropriate for a general community app.

Only add people you know and trust

DogDash includes friend features that may allow accepted friends to see more information about your activity.

Only send or accept friend requests from people you know and trust.

Do not accept a friend request simply because someone appears nearby on DogDash.

Never use friend features to:

• monitor another user's movements;

• follow someone;

• gather information about where they live or walk;

• harass or intimidate another person.

If you no longer trust or want to share activity with someone, remove them from your friends where that option is available.

Respect location privacy

DogDash is location-based, so users must treat location-derived information responsibly.

Do not use information shown through DogDash to:

• identify someone's home address;

• track someone's routine;

• wait for another user at locations they visit;

• follow someone in the real world;

• share another user's location outside DogDash without permission;

• intimidate someone by demonstrating knowledge of their movements.

Location information should only be used for the legitimate social and territory features provided by DogDash.

Share photographs responsibly

Only upload photographs you have the right to share.

Do not upload photographs that:

• invade another person's privacy;

• show someone in a sensitive or embarrassing situation without permission;

• contain unlawful material;

• depict animal cruelty;

• contain sexual or pornographic content;

• promote dangerous or illegal behaviour;

• infringe another person's copyright or other rights.

Take particular care with photographs that may reveal:

• someone's home address;

• vehicle registration;

• workplace;

• school;

• children's identities;

• other private information.

Protect children and young people

Do not use DogDash to target, contact or exploit children or young people.

Do not post inappropriate content involving minors.

If a photograph contains a child, make sure you have the appropriate permission to share it and consider whether sharing it is necessary.

DogDash may take immediate action where activity appears to create a risk to a child or young person.

Do not share harmful or illegal content

DogDash must not be used to distribute content that:

• is illegal;

• threatens violence;

• promotes hatred or discrimination;

• encourages animal cruelty;

• encourages self-harm or dangerous behaviour;

• contains sexual exploitation material;

• promotes criminal activity;

• contains malicious links, malware or scams;

• seriously infringes another person's rights.

We may remove such content and take additional action where appropriate.

Do not spam or misuse social features

Do not use DogDash to send:

• repeated unwanted friend requests;

• spam;

• scams;

• misleading promotions;

• unsolicited commercial messages;

• automated or bulk abuse.

Social functionality should be used for genuine DogDash interaction.

Do not abuse reporting tools

Reporting helps us keep DogDash safe.

You may report users or content that you reasonably believe breaches these Guidelines or our Terms.

Do not submit reports that are:

• knowingly false;

• malicious;

• retaliatory;

• intended to harass another user;

• repeatedly submitted without genuine reason.

Misuse of reporting tools may result in restrictions on your account.

What should I report?

You should consider reporting activity involving:

• harassment or threats;

• unsafe or abusive behaviour;

• cheating;

• GPS manipulation;

• inappropriate photographs or content;

• impersonation;

• privacy misuse;

• scams;

• animal cruelty;

• serious or repeated breaches of these Guidelines.

Where there is an immediate real-world threat to a person or animal, contact the appropriate emergency service or authority rather than relying only on DogDash reporting.

What happens after a report?

We may review relevant account activity, content and technical information where reasonably necessary to investigate a report.

Depending on the circumstances, we may:

• take no action where no breach is identified;

• remove content;

• correct territory or activity;

• issue a warning;

• restrict a feature;

• temporarily suspend an account;

• permanently terminate an account.

The action taken may depend on factors including:

• severity;

• frequency;

• intent;

• previous behaviour;

• risk to other users;

• available evidence.

We may not always be able to tell the reporting user what action was taken against another account.

Serious breaches

Some behaviour may result in immediate restriction or termination without a prior warning.

Examples may include:

• credible threats of violence;

• serious harassment;

• exploitation of children;

• deliberate animal cruelty;

• serious privacy abuse;

• dangerous stalking behaviour;

• large-scale cheating or manipulation;

• criminal misuse of the service;

• attempts to compromise DogDash security.

Where appropriate, we may preserve relevant information or cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.

Can content or activity be removed?

Yes.

We may remove or restrict content, walks, territory, rankings, achievements or other activity where we reasonably believe it:

• breaches these Guidelines;

• breaches our Terms & Conditions;

• results from cheating or technical manipulation;

• presents a safety or security concern;

• is unlawful;

• needs to be corrected because of a technical error.

Virtual territory or progression may also be adjusted where reasonably necessary to maintain fair operation of DogDash.

Help keep DogDash welcoming

The best DogDash community is one where users can enjoy the competitive side of territory without losing sight of why the app exists: getting dogs out walking.

Be competitive on the map.

Be friendly in the real world.

Respect other walkers, dogs, landowners and the places you visit.

These Guidelines may change

DogDash will continue to evolve and new features may require additional community rules.

We may update these Guidelines from time to time.

Where changes are significant, we may notify users through DogDash or our website.

The date at the top of this page shows when the Guidelines were last updated.
